There are big differences between winners and losers. Among them, one of the biggest ones is their attitude towards what they have or don’t have. The difference is this:
Losers complain about what they don’t have while winners make the most of what they have.
It might seem simple, but this difference plays a big role in making someone a winner or a loser.
You see, you can’t expect your situation to be ideal before you can achieve something. There will always be something that you lack. If you wait until everything becomes ideal, you might never do what you need to do. So you should just make the most of what you have.
This reminds me of the story of Colonel Sanders, the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken. He once had a thriving restaurant. But then it went bankrupt and he didn’t have much left. Worse, he was already 66 years old at that time. He had many reasons to complain about what he didn’t have. Fortunately, he didn’t do that. Instead, he made the most of what he had: a fried chicken recipe.
It’s not much, isn’t it? Just a recipe. But he made the most of it. He went from restaurant to restaurant to offer to cook fried chicken based on his recipe. If they liked it, he would then sell fried chicken to them.
He faced many rejections. He often had to sleep in his car. But he made the most of what he had and that made all the difference.
Similarly, you might not have much right now, but you can make the most of what you have.
I’d like to focus on just two things: your Internet access and your spare time.
1. Internet Access
If you can read this article, then you have access to the richest resource on the planet: the Internet.
The question is: have you made the most if it? Have you used it to learn new things? Have you used it to experiment and create side projects? Or maybe even start a business?
Unfortunately, the Internet also contains many distractions. If you are not careful, you might use the Internet only for its short-term pleasures rather than its long-term benefits.
2. Spare Time
Even if you are busy, I’m sure you still have some spare time, maybe in the night at home or at some points during the day. You should make the most of it.
I once shared the story of a limo driver. While waiting for his clients, he often had some spare time. So what did he do? He brought some books with him and read them. These were books that taught him new skills. And the result? He used the knowledge to start an online business that eventually made him a multi-millionaire.
What about your spare time? Have you made the most of it?
You might not have much, but I’m sure you have an Internet access and some spare time. Make the most of them. It can open the way for you to reach your full potential.
